Allen, Texas is a suburb just north of Dallas, between the cities of Plano and McKinney. The first settlers were the Caddo Indians until the 1840s when immigrants from the United States and Europe arrived. The Houston and Central Texas Railroad created growth in the area for crops to be transported across the country.

Eagle Stadium is the high school’s athletic facility that opened in 2012 and seats up to 18,000. It houses a weight room, indoor golfing facility, and wrestling practice facility. The Eagles’ football team has one of the best teams in the state. The school also offers its students the International Baccalaureate program. Collin College is located inside the high school, as well as many programs dedicated to educating its students. A small portion of the city is zoned to Lovejoy High School.
The Event Center is a conference and convention center with nearby hotels and restaurants. You can catch Americans hockey games at the community ice rink, concerts, wrestling tournaments, and graduations. For those who love to shop, there is a Premium Outlet Mall with over 200 stores ranging from Michael Kors to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
Watters Creek is another shopping center featuring boutiques, restaurants, and a green area for children to play. It’s a perfect place for adults to sit out on the patio with a glass of wine while you keep an eye out on the kids. The Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium is an enclosed water park with a rock-climbing wall, a new park for waterboarding, and a huge outdoor skate park. TopGolf is an entertainment center offering mini-golf and a place to hit golf balls in a secured place. It’s similar to bowling, but with golf clubs. It’s fun for golfers as well as non-golfers. Food and drinks are available for your convenience.
The Village offers a variety of shops and restaurants, including Village Kids. It’s a club geared for children from 3-12 years of age and offers discount rates to the Caboose for birthday parties and participating retailers. Members have access to monthly events and Discovery Days.
Allen has over 50 parks spread out over 1,184 acres. There’s also over 60 miles of paved trails for biking and hiking.
The Landings of Kittyhawk is a master-planned community featuring the premier homebuilder, Grand Homes. Home prices in this neighborhood range from $530s to $800s. Amenities include a neighborhood pool, playground, and center. It offers easy access to Highway 75, Highway 121, George Bush Turnpike, and the Dallas North Tollway. Several golf courses and medical centers are also nearby, including: Tournament Players Club at Craig Ranch, Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club, Medical Center of McKinney, and North Texas Medical Center. King’s Crossing is also in the Allen School District featuring Grand Homes. Prices range from the low $600s to high $900s. Both of these neighborhoods offer new construction.
Cypress Meadows is another new master-planned community with a fitness center, neighborhood pool and sports area, with easy access to Twin Creeks Golf Course and Twin Creeks Park. The main home builder in this neighborhood is Normandy Homes, with several different floorplans to choose starting in the low $500s.
There are several new neighborhoods offering new construction or homes that have recently been built. These include: Montgomery Ridge, Twin Creeks, Connemara Crossing, Walnut Springs, and Ashley Meadows.
The nearby town of Plano is one of the suburbs of the Dallas area that is in the Dallas Area Rapid Transit system. It provides light rail to commuters with access to other areas of the Dallas area. There are two airports serving the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex: Love Field and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
